I had been getting newsletters from whosthehottestrapper.com
for about 2 months, and there seemed to be a lot of opportunities that were major deals, and I always wanted to get a record
deal. Then in June a listing was posted that had my name all over it. It was the type of music I produced, and had been producing
for the last 6 months. I was interested in getting into their music licensing catalog, so I paid the submission fees, and
sent in 25 tracks. 5 were DENIED, 3 I was told to re-submit, and 17 were approved, of the 17 that were approved for their
catalog, 4 were submitted to a listing titled "Superstar hip hop artist is buying beats". I fixed the issues with
the 3 re-submissions, and only 2 were selected which gave me 19 approved, about month later I got a phone call from Charlie
Mac saying that he had an offer on the table for one of my tracks, for $3500, was I interested, I swear I felt like I was
getting punked. He sent the agreements over, one was a non-exclusive agreement to represent 18 of my tracks, and another one
stating that they wanted to pay me $1750 for one of my tracks, I almost broke my pen signing the contracts. About a week later
I got my check, and my copies of the signed agreements. This was my first time trying something like this, I don't have a
myspace or anything like that, I'm not a professional, I make beats in my spare time for fun, and it feels awesome to get
paid for it.

I
have been in the music business for quite some time and have achieved a level of success that is somewhat respectable.
I first approached Charlie Mac about his venture into music licensing and the success he was achieving.
As I saw the music business changing, I saw a need to change the way I do business if I wanted to stay in it.
Charlie Mac showed me a solid avenue to achieve that change and want to thank him for being an example of an independent
artist/producer that was making $ in some creative ways. He brought "selling beats" to a whole
"nutha" level.
